Same-Day vs 2-Day Patna Gaya Itinerary
Is stopping at Punpun Ghat mandatory if we are flying directly into Gaya or driving from Varanasi?
No. Punpun Ghat is specifically prescribed as the Pratham Vedi for pilgrims entering Magadha from the north (Patna / Ganga side). If you arrive via Varanasi (west) or Gaya Airport (south), your Gayawal Acharya invokes the Punpun Smaran Sankalp right at Falgu Devghat before starting Teen Vedi.
What if our flight lands at Patna Airport at 9:30 AM? Can we still do Punpun + Gaya the same day?
If you land at Patna at 9:30 AM, you will reach Punpun by 10:15 AM and Gaya Ji only by 1:15 PM—which is too late and hot for a fasting morning ritual. For arrivals after 8:00 AM at Patna Airport, always choose Option B (1N/2D): visit Bodh Gaya or Rajgir-Nalanda on Day 1, sleep in Bodh Gaya, and perform Punpun + Gaya Pind Daan fresh on Day 2 morning.
